KITMAN Students Join KU Thai Textile Fest 2026: Celebrating Thai Textile Heritage and Cultural Diversity

On Monday, 10 August 2026, first-year students from the Kasetsart Integrated Tourism Management (KITMAN) Program, together with international exchange students and Asst. Prof. Dr. Dolruthai Jiarakul, participated in “KU Thai Textile Fest 2026: Preserving Thai Textiles in Tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother.”

The event was organized to honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, whose lifelong dedication to preserving and promoting Thai textiles has played a significant role in safeguarding Thailand’s invaluable cultural heritage. The event took place at the Lecture and Activity Room, 1st Floor, Student Development Division, Rapee Sagarik Building, Kasetsart University.

As part of the event, the students participated in a creative workshop on wearing and styling Thai textiles without sewing. Through hands-on practice, participants explored how traditional Thai fabrics can be creatively transformed into contemporary outfits while retaining their cultural identity and value. The activity encouraged students to appreciate, preserve, and promote Thai textiles as a cultural heritage passed down through generations, while also exploring their potential as part of Thailand’s cultural soft power.

The event concluded on a lively and memorable note with a fashion walk showcasing the participants’ creative Thai textile outfits. Thai and international students proudly took to the runway together, representing a vibrant mix of nationalities, including students from China, Japan, Russia, the Netherlands, Finland, and other countries.

More than simply wearing Thai textiles, the activity provided an opportunity for students from different cultural backgrounds to experience Thai heritage firsthand, express their creativity, and celebrate unity in diversity through fashion and cultural exchange.
